Shankland Lectures 2017

Prof Tom CornsThe highlight of this year's Shankland Lectures was the launch of‘The Oxford Handbook of Early Modern English Literature and Religion’, edited by School of English Professors Andrew Hiscock and Helen Wilcox. The launch was celebrated with a lecture by Professor Emeritus Tom Corns on “'The bonds that unite us' (D. Trump): religion and literature in the 17th century". In the Spring Dr Michael Durrant spoke on the early modern printer Henry Hills.

Lecture in celebration of the launch of ‘The Oxford Handbook of Early Modern English Literature and Religion’.

The lecture was followed by the official launch of The Oxford Handbook of Early Modern English Literature and Religion, a pioneering volume edited by Profs Andrew Hiscock and Helen Wilcox, both of Bangor University's School of English Literature. The Handbook contains the work of over forty scholars of early modern literature and religion, working in universities in the U.K, continental Europe and North America. The launch was accompanied by celebratory drinks and music.
